Labyrinths at Grace Cathedral
Grace Cathedral in San Francisco has two labryints both based on the labyrinth from Chartes, France. They are classical 11-curcuit labyrinths. This is the second labyrinth I have walked and I come back over and over again.
There is an indoor wool tapastry one that is available when the Cathedral is open. The outdoor one, in stone, is open at all times.
Grace Cathedral also hosts Veriditastm — The Voice of the Labyrinth Movement. They are very stong supporters of the Labyrinth re-emergence.
Every month, they have an event (Grace after Hours) on Friday evenings with a lecture, music by the indoor labyrinth and a thing called a Harmony Walk where many people are on the labyrinth and some have handbells. I found this to be very moving and plan to incorporate it in my schedule whenever I can. (Lifeamgood.com writeup)
There is a plaque in near the doors for Grace Cathedral that makes me much happier about this being a Christian church. I have issues with many christian churches and this alleviated most if not all of them. It was a statement that whatever your belief, whatever your practice, whatever you are looking for, you are welcome. I even got a copy and put it in its own page, I was that impressed. I like Grace Cathedral and what they are trying to do.
