Bay Area Labyrinths: Zeum | SOMA | Willard | Fairview | Medcenter | Landsend
The first two labyrinths listed were gathered at random times. Since there are only a few pictures for the following labyrinths, I am putting them together on one page.
Zeum
near the Metreon and Moscone Convention center
Behind the Zeum, there is a grass
area that has a cement wall running around most of it. There are short, squat
bollards along this low wall. The end bollards have finger labyrinths on their
tops. These labyrinths are classical eleven circuit Chartes style labyrinths
of a size to run your finger along the path.
SOMA
Just off Folsom on 8th St is a labyrinth
painted on the wall. I believe it said it was part of the Labyrinth Habitat.
It is very colorful and well made. It is a classical seven circuit labyrinth.
You need to follow it by eye because you reach more than just the bottom
of it. What I think is interesting is that this is really close if not in
the San Francisco Fetish District.
Willard Labyrinth The East Bay Labyrinth project painted a labyrinth at the Willard Middle School 2425 Stuart Street, Berkeley (on Telegraph between Derby and Parker). It is open during non-school hours. |

Fairview Labyrinth (A Sacred Path towards Healing and Wholeness) 25890 Fairview Avenue, Hayward on the side of the hill. Chuck and Dori Bohntinsky built this labyrinth and dedicated it to the memory of their daughter. It is a large 11-circuit Charts style garden labyrinth made of plants and little statues. It is lovely and large. They have full moon walks every month. It is open daily, 24 hours a day. Opened to the public in October 2002. For more information: cifoundation.org or 510.538.3608. |
